According to What’s On Netflix, the November 2024 lineup for the streaming giant includes the "Punk Hazard" arc of One Piece. This is the 26th storyline of the One Piece series and the first story arc of the "Dressrosa Saga." Over 600 episodes of the Shonen Jump series are now available to stream for Netflix viewers with the new release. Initially, the "Punk Hazard" arc was meant to debut on Netflix in August but was delayed by three months.

Totaling 54 new episodes on the streaming platform, the "Punk Hazard" arc introduces the Straw Hat Pirates to Caesar Clown and his horrible experiments on Punk Hazard island. While the storyline overall doesn't offer much of a challenge to Monkey D. Luffy and his friends, it does reunite the would-be Pirate King with Smoker, a longtime adversary with a heart of gold (and lungs filled with deadly fumes). It also leads to a Pirate Alliance between Luffy and Trafalgar D. Water Law to overthrow one of the Four Emperors, which doesn't pay off until Gear 5 Luffy defeats Kaidou of the Beasts -- 10 years from the deal is first struck in Chapter 667 (2012) of the manga to the conclusion of the "Wano Country" storyline in Chapter 1056 (2022). The same goes for the anime, as the Pirate Alliance is established in Episode 593 (2013), while Kaidou’s defeat happens in Episode 1049 (2023). Luckily, Netflix viewers can binge-watch through these major story developments.

The addition of the "Punk Hazard" story arc comes after Netflix recently added the critically acclaimed anniversary special, One Piece Fan Letter, to its ever-growing lineup of One Piece episodes. The 25th-anniversary special celebrates the anime adaptation by Toei Animation, which began on Oct. 20, 1999. It also serves as a celebration of the One Piece fandom in general that continues to follow the series since its 1997 debut. The next anime storyline in the One Piece series will be a remake of the "Fish-Man Island" arc, taking a break from the "Egghead" arc to allow the manga to provide more story content for its adaptation. Eiichiro Oda recently paused the manga's serialization to work on the second season of the live-action One Piece series, which is expected to debut on Netflix in 2025.

While the One Piece anime by Toei Animation will continue, Netflix is also producing an anime TV remake of the series with Wit Studio, the animation studio known for its initial work on Attack on Titan. THE ONE PIECE will adapt the series' early storylines, staying faithful to the source material but still doing things its own way, per Oda’s request. A release date for THE ONE PIECE has yet to be officially announced, but Wit Studio shared concept art during One Piece Day 2024.
